CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the reporter saw at the Sichuan pepper base in Shuanghe Village, Yongxin Town, Qijiang that a single track meandered round the hill, on which a vehicle carrying agricultural materials was running through the Sichuan pepper forest automatically.

"This is our recently built vehicle for single-track transport. It is now having its test run, in preparation for the subsequent transport of fertilizers." According to Diao Yinyong, the person in charge of the Sichuan pepper base, the single track is 200 meters long, and it’s easy to operate the equipment and run the vehicle stably up and down the hill.

The Sichuan pepper base in Shuanghe Village was planted with more than 1,600 mu of Sichuan peppers, some of which were planted at an incline of nearly 50 degrees, so it’s an all-consuming task to carry fertilizers and pepper branches by hand. To solve this problem, automation equipment has been introduced to further enhance efficiency.

Diao Yinyong told the reporter the test result shows that it takes only 4 minutes for the vehicle to make a trip; the maximum load of one vehicle per trip reaches 600 jin (300kg), equivalent to the workload of 10 people. Next year will be the harvest period for the Sichuan pepper base, and the farmers plan to spend around one month picking Sichuan peppers.
