CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Rail Transit Group, the Nanjimen rail bridge of CRT Line 10 has successfully passed the load testing, laying a firm foundation for the opening of the line at the end of this year.

As the important cross-river channel and the critical project of the construction of the 2nd phase of CRT Line 10, the Nanjimen rail bridge covers a full length of 1,216 meters with a main span of 480 meters.

The load testing for the bridge consists of static load tests and dynamic load tests. During the static load test, a vehicle was put on the bridge to check the internal force and deformation of the key structures of the bridge, including main towers, girders, and cables, so as to observe the working state of the bridge structure under static load. For dynamic load testing, a train was running on the bridge to assess the impact of dynamic effects on the bridge structural response. The two types of testing eventually complement each other to produce a comprehensive test result that ensures the safe operation of trains on the bridge.

Three 6-coach trains fully loaded with about 139 tons of sandbags were deployed to carry out a total of 19 rounds of static load testing, while two full-load heavy rail trains were used to carry out the dynamic load testing at the speed of 20km/h, 40 km/h, 60 km/h, and 80 km/h respectively. At the same time, high-precision test instruments were used to collect dynamic deflection, dynamic strain and vibration acceleration data of the bridge so as to determine whether the dynamic response of the bridge was normal.

After 25 hours of continuous testing, the test result shows that all technical indicators of Nanjimen rail bridge of CRT Line 10 have met the requirements of design and specifications and provided significant scientific basis for the later completion and acceptance of the bridge.

The 2nd phase of CRT Line 10 covers a full length of 9.86km and 8 stations. On its completion, it will connect with the 1st phase of CRT Line 10 to form another north-south channel that will effectively ease the traffic pressure of the cross-river transport between Jiangbei, Nan’an and Yuzhong Peninsula.
