A pigeon pair of giant pandas of Chongqing Zoo adopted

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At 10:00 a.m. on November 1, the giant panda adoption ceremony was held in Chongqing Zoo. At the ceremony, Cue Group made donations and adopted a pigeon pair of giant pandas, “Qizhen” and “Qibao”, who were then renamed “Mao Xiaoyu (sister)” and “Xiong Xiaokai (younger brother)”.
The adopted pandas were born on September 13, 2021; their mother is giant panda “Haoqi” in Chongqing Zoo, and their father is “Lulin” in China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas.
It is introduced that the adoption is symbolic, and the adopted pandas will still live in the zoo. “In addition to the naming right, the adopters have the privilege to visit their adopted pandas when their physiological conditions permit. We will also provide pictures and videos of the adopted pandas to the adopters,” said Yin Yuzhong, the deputy director of the Chongqing Zoo Management Office. He added, the zoo would make full use of the donations to carry out giant panda breeding management, breeding research, disease prevention, popularization of science, etc.
Besides, the adopters will be awarded the honorary certificate of "Care for Wild Animals" by Chongqing Zoo. They can be employed as a voluntary supervisor of the zoo, join the volunteer team of zoo protection education, and participate in the science popularization and promotion activities organized by the zoo.
