According to Chen Dehong, chairman of the trade union of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, the farming culture experience activity is held every autumn in Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and this is the tenth year that they have held this activity. “There are 12 teams this year, involving students and teachers from different colleges. Farming culture experience activity is one of the characteristic cultural and sports activities of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute with very high participation,” said Chen Dehong. The reporter saw a group of teachers and students pick up lotus roots in the pond, and there was also a competition of picking sweet potatoes in the vegetable field.

Yao Xiao, a freshman majoring in arts and crafts at the College of Design of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, told the reporter that this was her first time to pick up lotus roots. She said that it was not an easy task, as it took a lot of effort to pull lotus roots out of the mud; also, it was extremely difficult to walk in the pond, which was a test of your cooperation with classmates.

In the vegetable field, teachers and students were digging out sweet potatoes. In a short time, the baskets were burst with sweet potatoes. The university also provided sites for baking sweet potatoes, so that teachers and students can taste the sweet potatoes.

It is also worth mentioning that this year, there was a new fish catching session. In the pond, a student making a flash and holding up a big fish exclaimed, “I caught it fish! Get me a bag!”

Ma Yunjin, a sophomore of the College of Art Education of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, said that what she gained from the farming culture experience activity was not only happiness, but also a better understanding of the hard-working spirit.
