People in downtown Chongqing are required to “take a nucleic acid test every two days”

2022-11-08 14:54:31

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As of 18:00 on November 5, Chongqing has confirmed 254 new cases of local infections, involving 11 outbreaks. For the “11.01” outbreak in Shapingba, the total number of reported infections has reached 231, covering 19 districts and counties and indicating a high risk of transmission. In accordance with the epidemic situation and the need for epidemic prevention and control measures, people in downtown Chongqing are now required to take a nucleic acid test every two days.

During the 134th press conference on the prevention and control of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Chongqing held on the evening of November 5, Li Pan, the deputy director of Chongqing Municipal Health Commission reported the news above.

Citizens in downtown Chongqing, please remember to take the regional nucleic acid testing “every other day”

"Nucleic acid testing is an effective way to quickly detect hidden infections." Li Pan said, the new round of regional nucleic acid testing carried out on November 3 has confirmed 19 cases of infections, which quickly identified the hidden risks, effectively reduced the risks of transmission and curbed the spread of the current epidemic outbreak. With the support and understanding from the general public, the second round of regional nucleic acid testing is progressing in a smooth and orderly manner in the downtown area.

Next, Chongqing will continue to carry out regional nucleic acid testing in the downtown areas every other day according to the epidemic situation and the need for epidemic prevention and control measures. During the emergency period, each epidemic-stricken district and county should carry out nucleic acid screening testing properly.

Li added the above measures are carried out to identify hidden infections, break the chain of transmission, and curb the spread of the epidemic. They are making every endeavor to ensure that the epidemic outbreak is controlled in the shortest time and at the smallest cost and best protect people's lives and health.

In the public areas of downtown Chongqing: A 48-hour valid negative nucleic acid test result is needed

Li said that public areas are crowded with a large flow of people, and some of them are closed places. These areas are prone to epidemic outbreaks and high risks of transmission.

He reminded the public should scan the codes of specific public places, have their temperatures checked, wear a mask properly, and hold a 48-hour valid negative nucleic acid test result in public areas during the emergency period. They are also urged to carry out self-protection measures, avoid mass gathering activities, wash hands frequently, keep the room well-ventilated, use serving chopsticks and practice social distancing.

Li said the epidemic situation remained grim and complex, as cluster outbreaks of COVID-19 occurred in many places in the city. During this critical period, Chongqing will adhere to the general strategy of “preventing inbound cases and domestic resurgences” and the general policy of “dynamic zero COVID”, and implement scientific prevention and control measures to curb the spread of the epidemic at the fastest pace.
