CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- This year, Chongqing started the construction of a nationally designated garden city, with a view to meeting the standard for a national garden city and achieving 5.5 square meters of green space for each inhabitant within three years.

Yubei district is dedicated to establishing a park system of “one living room and six gardens”, that is, 2,300 mu of central park (the living room of the city) and six theme parks located in the north area of the central, which constitute the first ecological park cluster in the downtown area, according to T. Y. Lin International Engineering Consulting (China) Co. Ltd.

“At present, the project is at the design stage,” said Yang Jing, general manager of the landscape business department of T. Y. Lin International Engineering Consulting (China) Co. Ltd. He added the six theme parks were Houhe Park, Huashi Park, Wanjiashan Park, Shuangqiaoxi Park, Zhongyuanshan Park, and Lushan Park, among which Houhe Park, Wanjiashan Park, and Shuangqiaoxi Park were at the design stage. The six theme parks are semicircular in shape, making the central park a livable place for citizens.

What should be considered in designing the first cluster of ecological parks in the downtown area? Yang Jing said, each theme park is mainly planted with trees with regional characteristics to provide a large area of green shapes and retains the original plant diversity to reflect the harmony between humans and nature. A design plan is also made in an early stage to integrate the ecological parks with facilities for business operations and leisure activities.
