KAMPALA, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- World Health Organization (WHO) has donated medical supplies worth over 1.1 million U.S. dollars to be used in districts facing drought and food insecurity in Uganda.

The global health body in a tweet on Friday said the supplies will address the health impact of the drought and food insecurity affecting 20 districts of Karamoja, Lango, and Teso regions.

"This donation aims to ensure continuity of essential health services including malaria, maternal, neonatal and child health, nutrition, tuberculosis and HIV at health facility and community levels," said Charles Njuguna, Incident Manager WHO office here.

Ruth Aceng, Minister of Health, said beyond the Ebola outbreak that the country is facing, there are other health emergencies that threaten the life of Ugandans. Aceng said WHO's support will help strengthen the fight against the impact of drought and food insecurity in the country.
