CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In order to deeply implement the “No. 1 Project” of the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, from February 7 to February 9, Chongqing Expressway Group sent a team to Sichuan to explore new cooperation mechanism, broaden new cooperation channel, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shudao Group to jointly implement the reconstruction and expansion of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway and expand it into eight lanes.

Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway to be widened on the original road

Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is the first expressway in Chongqing and Sichuan, with a total length of 337.5 kilometers and four-lane highway in two-way, which was opened to traffic in 1995. Since the completion and opening to traffic, the traffic flow of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway has maintained a comparatively high growth rate.

Among them, the section from Jiulongpo to the beltway of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway has been in a state of normal congestion; the traffic in the section from beltway to Yongchuan of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway has exceeded the design service level and cannot meet the increasing traffic demand.

In the “14th Five-Year” Plan of Chongqing's traffic development, Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is a key construction project for the reconstruction and expansion of "Eight-lane Expressway Passage" in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

“The area along Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is an important area gathering industrial economy and population. The industrialization, informatization and urbanization are relatively high. It is also an important hinterland for the construction and development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and is urgent to speed up the traffic interconnection in this area." According to the relevant responsible person of Chongqing Expressway Group, the implementation of the widening of the original road of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is of great significance for further improving the regional traffic capacity, enhancing the radiation capacity of the road network in north-west direction in the metropolitan area of the main city of Chongqing, strengthening the connection between the districts in the metropolitan area of the main city of Chongqing and driving the economic and social development along the line.

In order to accelerate the construction of the project, Chongqing Expressway Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shudao Group in Chengdu. According to the agreement, both parties will plan to construct Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway Expansion Project with high standards in accordance with the goal of “unified standards and consistent pace”, coordinate to promote the construction of a series of highway standards in Sichuan-Chongqing region, and create a “new benchmark” for the regional coordination of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

Chengdu-Chongqing ETC card to be upgraded

For the majority of vehicle owners, it will be more convenient to use ETC on Sichuan-Chongqing Expressway in the future.

According to the agreement, in terms of ETC operation and management, both parties will jointly carry out the construction of cloud service area, ETC mall and life construction for personal car, and upgrade the Chengdu-Chongqing ETC card.

Moreover, both parties will jointly promote the construction of a series of standards such as operation management, system and specification of expressway network in Sichuan and Chongqing, build a platform for information docking and sharing of highway network in Sichuan and Chongqing, and comprehensively enable the construction and operation, and intelligent management of expressways, service areas and gas stations within the radiation scope of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle through the sharing of Internet and big data resources.
