CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Reporter recently learned from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport that in 40 days of 2023 Spring Festival travel rush, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport accumulated 4.5398 million passengers entering and leaving of the port. Compared with 2022 Spring Festival travel rush, it grows 13.80%, which has recovered to about 83.7% of 2019 Spring Festival travel rush.

Air travel continues to heat up during the Spring Festival travel rush

According to reports, this year’s Spring Festival travel rush in addition to return to home, air travel is also continuing to heat up. During the Spring Festival travel rush, the daily average passenger throughput of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport was 113,500 visits, with a peak of 134,100 person on January 27.

Among them, during the Spring Festival travel rush, the top ten routes leaving from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport were respectively to Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Haikou, Sanya, Changsha, and Urumqi. The routes from Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Haikou, Nanjing, Sanya, Changsha, and Kunming arriving to Chongqing were among the top 10.

In addition, Chongqingxi Railway Station, North Railway Station, Shapingba Station, city terminal building in Raffles City and Airline Service Center of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, are actively integrated into Chongqing’s multi-modal transportation service. During the Spring Festival travel rush, more than 100,000 passengers are guaranteed. Among them, there are 41710 passengers transported by special airport bus from the airport to and from the city terminal.

Restart of Chongqing international routes will be speeded up

In terms of international routes, there were 11 international (regional) routes operated by Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport during the Spring Festival travel rush, namely, Chongqing to Hong Kong, Macau, Dubai, Singapore, Rome, Madrid, Bangkok, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh, Vientiane, and Budapest.

Tang Yan, domestic airline business manager of market operation department in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Company, introduced that, in the near future, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport also plans to focus on the restart of Tokyo, Osaka, Phuket, Koh Samui, Bali and other routes, to meet the vast number of passengers outbound tourism and business needs.

It is reported that Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is one of the top ten international aviation hubs located by the State and Civil Aviation Administration. At present, it operates 245 domestic air routes, reaching 151 domestic cities. The relatively complete air route network attracts air passengers from home and abroad to transfer in Chongqing.
