CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The “She-travel” Consumer Report for 2023 released by Ctrip on March 8 shows that the number of travel orders from female users has increased by more than 14 times on a yearly basis in 2023. When it comes to travel expenses, women also spend nearly 10% more than men. The overall number of rural travel orders from women grew by over 54 times and the money they spent on camping also increased by 30%. The orders booked for the May Day holidays from women are more than 110% of the number of men’s orders. Besides, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Nanjing, and Changsha are the most popular destinations among female travelers.
What are the characteristics of the undefined "she-travel" in 2023? The desire to spice up life, the cuteness lying in a striking contrast between two things, and the love for nature are the three main characteristics. The data also shows that from the end of 2022, 72% of the users who are interested in New Year's Eve activities and spring fun are women. To experience a real sense of occasion, they can fly to Finland to view the northern light, or hold a New Year’s Eve party in a nearby five-star hotel.
When it comes to travel destinations, the cities with beautiful and romantic landscapes, like Dali, Lijiang, Guilin, Xiamen, and Suzhou have always been favored by female travelers. Today, the cities with more rugged terrains like Gansu, Sichuan, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang are also gaining popularity among female users.
Most women take a trip to get relaxed in the beauty of nature. This year, the overall number of rural travel orders from women increased by over 54 times, and the orders of camping products grew 32 times on a yearly basis. The money they spent on camping also increased to 32%.
"She-travel" has given renewed impetus to the recovery of international tourism. The report shows that from January 8 to March 5, 53% of outbound travel orders this year were from women compared with 47 percent of men.
Though the May Day holiday is still nearly two months away, female travelers have made plans for their travel. As of March 5, the orders booked for May Day holidays from women are more than 110% of the number of men’s orders and 56% of outbound travel orders were placed by women.
Which cities are most favored by female travelers for the May Day holiday? As of March 5, the orders of trips to Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Suzhou, and Chongqing placed by female users are topping the list.
