CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At 03:41 on March 22, a Cathay Pacific B747 cargo flight carrying 10 tons of Fengjie navel oranges took off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport to Singapore, which is the first export of Fengjie navel oranges by air, and marks the beginning of the RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) Project of Fengjie navel oranges export by air.

Fengjie is located in the core citrus industrial belt of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, with a long history of navel orange cultivation and a famous brand at home and abroad. As early as 1979, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation included Fengjie as one of the eight foreign trade import and export navel orange bases, and enabled 10 towns of the County to establish a navel orange export base of 20,000 mu.

Chang Shihua, Deputy Governor of Fengjie County, introduced that at the end of last year, China Three Gorges Citrus (Fengjie Navel Oranges) Trading Center was licensed; Fengjie County has 1,930 mu of export navel orange orchards recorded, 3 export processing plants recorded, and 65 foreign trade enterprises recorded; it has exported more than 1,000 tons of navel oranges to Singapore, Vietnam and other countries; and it is expected to export 5,000 tons this year.

In order to seize the opportunity of RCEP regional opening and promote the domestic and international double circulation, Fengjie County Party Committee and County Government, Jingdong Technology Group and Chongqing Airport Group jointly launched Fengjie Navel Oranges Export Project by Air with the help of China-Singapore Connectivity Project and China-Singapore (Chongqing) Agricultural Cooperation Plan, and promoted the free flow of regional products in RCEP countries which form the world’s largest free trade zone. It is planned to export 100 tons of Fengjie navel oranges from Wushan Airport to Singapore via Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in batches.

“Wushan Airport is connected to the main branch of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. With the help of the developed airline network of Chongqing Airport, Fengjie navel oranges can go to Singapore and other RCEP member countries within 24 hours, greatly improving the timeliness of transportation and ensuring the quality of navel oranges.” The relevant person in charge of Chongqing Airport Group introduced that in order to maximize the transportation guarantee of Fengjie navel oranges export flights, Chongqing Airport Group opened the green support channel, developed the “one-to-one” support plan and implemented the special person and special area guarantee, to ensure the fast transit transport of Fengjie navel oranges.

The person in charge said that Chongqing Airport Group will take initiative to join in building the supply chain and industrial chain of such special products as Fengjie navel oranges and Wushan crisp plums, provide a fast and convenient channel for more quality distinctive agricultural products to be exported, and support local industrial upgrading and industrial diversification development strategies.
