China Railway Chengdu Group increases transport capacity for the upcoming May Day holiday

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd., the special transportation period for the May Day holiday of 2023 begins from April 27 to May 4 (8 days in total). To cope with the traffic peaks during the holiday, China Railway Chengdu Group plans to run 846.5 pairs of passenger trains, including 105.5 pairs of added EMU trains (270.5 pairs for train reconnection), to cope with passengers at an estimated 11 million.

As a long holiday after the Spring Festival, the May Day holiday features a great demand in the tourism market, high passenger traffic, and a holiday rush.

To meet the needs of passengers to the maximum extent, China Railway Chengdu Group has operated 57 pairs of EMU trains running via Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, and Xiamen (34 pairs for train reconnection) and 36 pairs of EMU trains running via Xi'an, Kunming, Wuhan, Nanning, Zhengzhou and other popular tourist destinations (17 pairs for train reconnection). At the same time, there are 15 pairs of EMU trains running at night from Chongqing to Wushan, from Chongqing to Lichuan, from Chengdu to Guiyang, from Chengdu to Chongqing, from Chongqing to Guiyang, from Anshun to Liupanshui, from Chengdu to Dazhou, and from Chengdu to Kunming.

Based on the characteristics of local cultural tourism, China Railway Chengdu Group will launch “Panda” tourist trains running from Chengdu to Xichangm and Lugu Lake on April 29 to meet the travel needs of tourists.
