Eight districts in western Chongqing to build ICV and NEV industry cluster

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The action plan for rapid development of intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) and new-energy vehicle (NEV) parts and components industry in the eight districts of western Chongqing from 2023 to 2027 (an exposure draft) released by the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission on April 21 states that there will be more than 1,000 ICV and NEV parts and components enterprises, with an output value of over 400 billion yuan, in the eight districts of western Chongqing by 2027.

Jiangjin, Hechuan, Yongchuan, Dazhu, Bishan, Tongliang, Tongnan, and Rongchang, the eight districts in western Chongqing, are the pilot areas for the No.1 project of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, the new driving force to enhance the economic development of Chongqing, and the main position for high-quality development of manufacturing industry in Chongqing. Moreover, they are the real support for the development of the ICV and NEV parts and components industry, according to the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission.

Following the action plan, the eight districts in western Chongqing will establish several innovation platforms, develop breakthrough technologies, characteristic products, and some industrial chains, and speed up the construction of a leading characteristic industrial base for ICV and NEV parts and components in China, with the focus on the development of ICV and NEV industry cluster. The eight districts of western Chongqing will be dedicated to the research and development of new energy systems, intelligent connected systems, and traditional systems and the implementation of the 11 development tasks, such as building an innovation-driven society, increasing the efforts to attract investment, developing the main market entities, promoting cluster development, accelerating integrated development and constructing characteristics industrial parks.

Additionally, the action plan proposes a spatial layout for the automobile industry in the eight districts of western Chongqing. For example, Bishan District will give priority to the development of power batteries, electric drive, electric steering, electric braking, chassis, and other assemblies; Yongchuan District will prioritize the development of intelligent cockpit, intelligent driving, and intelligent vehicle control; Hechuan District will prioritize the development of electric drive, electric brake, Internet of vehicles, automobile body, and interior and exterior decoration.
