CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Minxin Jiayuan Night Market, which has attracted lots of attention these days, started its trial operation in the new location at around 5 p.m. on April 26, with the first vendors preparing food for their customers. Quite a few of them worried if they could still have a good business in the new location.

Those worries disappeared very soon. After 6:00 p.m., the night market was bustling with food stalls and hawkers selling different types of delicious food, and tourists flooding in from Shapingba District, Jiangbei District, and even Beijing and Guizhou.

The night market was already a sea of people before 7:00 p.m. More than 40,000 fans were watching the live broadcast of the well-known Fiery Beef, while over 65 passengers were lining up for their food at the night market. Yang Xuman, the owner of Gulu Wheel Cake, hadn't expected there would be so many customers and thus prepared only five jin of flour. She sold out her wheel cakes in about two hours and was surprised at how early she came off work.

Boisterous!
“There are much more customers than before. We didn’t have enough food to serve our customers.”
“There are lots of customers! Our food ingredients are not enough. We sold out the food in less than one hour and returned home to prepare another 60 strings of roast,” said Yin Haolin, the post-95s vendor who sells roasted duck's webs and chicken feet. He arrived at the night market before 5 p.m., only to find that quite a few vendors had come earlier and started selling their food.
Yang has been selling cakes in the previous Minxin Jiayuan Night Market for three months, making profits of up to 1,500 yuan per night. She didn't think of so many customers today and thus prepared not many food ingredients, as a result of which she sold out all cakes very early.

The stall of “Good Squids Love Sizzling Squids” was surrounded by many customers. “It’s out of my expectations. A profit of 1,000 yuan would be satisfying to me. But tonight I earned 2,000 yuan in about two hours!” said Zhang Xiaoyan, the 30-year-old vendor who went into overdrive.
There were 198 stalls at the night market, and 144 vendors participated in the stall selection. Most of the first vendors are food sellers, who have attracted a continuous stream of customers.
Why is the night market so popular? It is understood that the new market is located in the Huimin Building, adjacent to Gate 1 and Gate 2 of Zone F of Minxin Jiayuan, where up to 2,000 people, pass through on their way home or way to pick up their parcels. A large number of restaurants nearby also contribute to the customer volume in Minxin Jiayuan.

Cheap!
“With low rent and a fixed stall, we don't need to move around anymore.”
When the sub-district released a notice that Minxin Jiayuan Night Market would be relocated, Zhang Xiaoyan was one of the first vendors to sign up for business and draw lots. She said, the relatively low rent, 450 yuan per month compared to 1,000 to 2,000 yuan per month in the past, and the “pay three months and get another three months for free” policy were attractive to her.
Yin Haolin used to be tired from finding a good place for his business and pushing his cart home after winding up the day's business every day. Now with a fixed stall, he just needs to take food ingredients to the market. It’s much more convenient and easier.

Mr. Luo, the vendor of “Give Me a Sweet Potato Peel” showed the reporter a copy of Instructions for Vendors at Minxin Jiayuan Night Market and said he had paid 2850 yuan for the six-month use of a stall and a deposit of 1500 yuan. “All details are put down in black and white, giving me a sense of security.” Mr. Luo was happy to see the long queue in front of his stall.

Clean!
“A great variety of food available at affordable prices!”
The new night market gives the residents living around a new feeling. “I felt unfamiliar when I went out of the neighborhood, as it was very spacious. Almost all residents of our building came to this night market. I love to have some snacks and beer here. It’s comfortable,” said Li Hongjin, a resident living in Minxin Jiayuan. He added that the new night market was beneficial for them, as it eliminated hidden troubles caused by the previously crowded roads and provided residents living nearby with a leisurely life experience.
Gao Yulong, a Beijing native who visited Chongqing for four days, was full of praise: "I specially booked a room nearby, so that I could hang out in Hongyangdong and Liziba during the day and enjoy local specialties at night. I was at the old night market in the first few days, and today I followed the vendors to come here!”
Yao Yao, who came from Jiangbei after work, said she had often seen reports on Minxin Jiayuan Night Market recently. Knowing that the night market was relocated, she purposefully came here to taste good food. She thought the snacks here were delicious and the price was affordable, about 10% cheaper than those in other places.

The lively night market brings merchants near Huimin Building unexpected harvests. Wen Hengqing, a Shenzhen native, runs a small pub and a painting studio here. “The studio is dedicated to training service, and the paintings created by my wife hanging in the studio are not for sale. Unexpectedly, some tourists insisted on buying two of them at the price of 1,100 yuan. Almost all flowers in the studio were also sold out,” said Wen Hengqing happily.

It’s learned that Minxin Jiayuan Night Market will formally open during the May Day holiday. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
