BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese university students who are about to graduate are showing increasing preference for stable jobs, mostly in state-owned companies, China Daily reported Wednesday.

Citing a report by recruitment portal Zhaopin, the newspaper said that most students surveyed favor stable jobs in top private or state-owned companies rather than flexible jobs for they are often deemed riddled with uncertainties.

Large and medium-sized companies remain top choices on the job market, while about 26 percent of the respondents are willing to work in small and micro-sized companies, according to the report.

While undergraduates make up the majority of job seekers, recruiters are more inclined to postgraduates and those with doctoral degrees, according to the survey. By mid-April, about 47.5 percent of the undergraduates surveyed had received job offers, the newspaper said, adding that about 54.4 percent of vocational graduates and 56.7 percent of graduates with master's or doctoral degrees had job offers by then.

The newspaper went on to explain that the lack of required skill sets and the lack of willingness to take up technical positions in companies are reasons why undergraduates tend to get less job offers.
