2023-05-15 11:37:37

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the 2023 Asian Powerlifting Championships in Jinju, South Korea are in full swing on May 10, Chongqing weightlifter Li Dayan snatched 180 kg, jerked 216 kg, and totaled 398 kg, winning the championship in the men’s 89-kilogram weight class and rewriting the world record of snatch and total score!

Born in February in Xiushan, Chongqing, Li Dayin was selected for the national team in 2017 and trained as a professional weightlifter. Li Dayin and Lv Xiaojun have become the championship hope for China in the men’s 81-kilogram weight class in the Olympics.

As the men’s 81-kilogram weight class has been removed from Olympic Games, Li Dayin has to choose the men’s 89-kilogram weight class so that he may have a chance to compete at the Olympics. It’s a huge challenge for an athlete. The new world record he achieved in the Asian Powerlifting Championships is a testament to his state and the best reward for him. It also laid a solid foundation for him to realize his Olympic dream.
