Chongqing and Hong Kong to establish a working mechanism for cross-jurisdictional international commercial dispute settlement

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In order to give full play to the functions of the “Belt and Road” construction and high-quality economic development of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone by providing diversified services, the Court of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area (Free Trade Zone), the Commercial Mediation Center of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Institute of Studies for the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau) signed a memorandum of cooperation on May 30, 2023. They will jointly establish a working mechanism for cross-jurisdictional international commercial dispute settlement to timely and properly resolve international commercial disputes and create a law-based, international and convenient business environment for China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

According to the memorandum of cooperation, they will strengthen research on cross-jurisdictional international disputes settlement, share resource information, carry out exchanges and cooperation, collect and collate the latest information on cross-jurisdictional international disputes settlement, jointly carry out relevant research topics and share human resources. They will also strengthen cross-jurisdictional training and exchanges on international disputes settlement, integrate resources, give full play to their respective advantages, and regularly or irregularly jointly organize training and exchanges on international economic and trade risk prevention, international commercial disputes settlement and international commercial affairs mediation skills.

In addition, they will strengthen cooperation on national and extraterritorial legal investigation, make full use of their respective resources and channels to work together to collect and collate the latest national and extraterritorial legal information, and share legal information to serve the needs of international commercial disputes settlement. Moreover, they will strengthen cross-border joint mediation cooperation, give full play to their existing resources and advantages in different legal regions, and study the enforceable efficiency of international commercial mediation, the innovation and sustainable development of the “Belt and Road” diversified disputes settlement modes. Based on practical cases, they will study typical cases of international commercial disputes with the cross-border diversified disputes settlement mode.
