CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 2023 Talents Making Chongqing Prosperous – Doctor’s One Week in Chongqing held in Western China (Chongqing) Science City was concluded on May 31. With a focus on the semiconductor industry, the event invited talents with doctoral degrees to take a field trip to Chongqing. A series of experiential activities helped introduce scarce talents to the semiconductor industry in Chongqing and finally, 35 doctors were contracted to work in Chongqing.

Doctors from 26 universities participated in the event

Based on the needs of key employers in the high-tech industrial development zone, 57 doctors from 26 universities, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University, were invited to Chongqing after careful selection by the employers. Their specialisms include nuclear science and technology, energy and power, optical engineering, microelectronics, and solid-state electronics.

The doctors visited the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Administration of Chongqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Chongqing IC Exhibition Center, obtaining a deep insight into the economic and social development, the cultural environment, the employment and entrepreneurship environment, and the culture of local enterprises of Chongqing. During the event, the sponsor also took them to visit local enterprises to bring about a labor agreement between the two parties.

“The huge potential for growth is attractive”

A signing ceremony was held on May 31, where 35 doctors signed a labor contract with local enterprises.

The profound culture and the huge potential for growth of Chongqing are quite attractive to me, and the social welfare and benefits show its thirst and respect for talents, said Dr. Zou Chenglong from Peking University. He hopes this vigorous and prosperous city will help him fulfill his ambition and achieve a brilliant life.

It’s worth noting that to attract more talents in the field of semiconductors, the event will aim at the needs of major national projects and develop the fields of high-speed signal processing, high-precision detection, 5G communication, and base station filters.

Attract more talents with a doctoral degree to visit Chongqing based on actual needs

According to the Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Chongqing has issued the “Yukuaiban” implementation plan for Chongqing talents and the construction plan for the Chongqing talents service platform in recent years to further coordinate the services and functions of different departments and relevant social institutions. To create a good living environment and provide sound conditions and career support for talents, the number of services has increased to 69, which cover career development, schooling, housing, medical care, employment, tax and financial support, transportation, and travel.

In the future, Chongqing will focus on the needs of key industries in Chongqing and cooperate with the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the people’s governments of all districts and counties in Chongqing in innovating the forms of events so as to attract more doctoral talents to visit Chongqing and pour new vigor into the talent "reservoir" of Chongqing.
