Xie Zhenye won the men's 100-meter dash in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- During the 4th National Athletics Grand Prix taking place at the stadium in Jiangjin, Chongqing this year, Xie Zhenyu, the Asian record holder for the men’s 200-meter dash, won the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.05 seconds. “I’ve been making steady achievements this year, and I hope I can make a breakthrough in the Asian Games held in my hometown Hangzhou,” said Xie in an interview after the race.
The National Athletics Grand Prix is one of the high-level national track and field events sponsored by the Chinese Athletics Association, as well as the highest-standard national event held in China before the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Over 800 participants in 29 teams from Sichuan, Guangdong, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Sports Institute, etc., participated in the 4th National Athletics Grand Prix. A total of 45 events were set for men and women, with 23 gold medals for men, 21 gold medals for women, and one medal for the mixed-sex game-winner.
Xie Zhenyu, the Asian record holder for the men’s 200-meter dash, won the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.05 seconds. This is the first domestic game for him in 2023.
In an interview after the race, Xie Zhenyu said, "The result today met my expectations because this year my results have been maintained at around 10.05 seconds. Though it was raining today, as a professional athlete, I needed to adapt to all kinds of weather."
Xie added Chongqing is a beautiful and characterful city, and he hopes to come back to Chongqing again one day. He will strive to win a gold medal in the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou.
