CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter learned from Yuxinou Company that a batch of goods from Chongqing have arrived in Padang Besar, Malaysia via railway intermodal line recently. The successful operation of this line marks that Chongqing is the first city in China to open the direct railway intermodal transport corridor to Malaysia, and that the transport corridor between China and ASEAN countries, covering the Mainland Southeast Asia has been expanded in a wider scope, providing strong support for Chongqing to accelerate the construction of an inland open highland.
It is reported that the goods mainly transported on this line are industrial spare parts produced by local enterprises in Chongqing, which will be transported door-to-door. Departing from Chongqing Tuanjiecun Station, these goods will be transported to Vientiane through the China-Laos freight train, and finally arrived in Padang Besar, Malaysia, via Thailand through railway intermodal transport. Customized services such as back-end delivery will be also provided for customers. It takes about 13 days throughout the whole process, saving over 40% of time compared with the traditional river-sea intermodal transport.
The operation of this train is of great significance. It not only has extended and innovated the China-Laos-Thailand railway intermodal trains operated by Yuxinou, making through transportation to Malaysia the whole journey possible, but also provides more diversified logistics routes between Chongqing and Malaysia, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs," said the head of the marketing department of Yuxinou Company.
In the future, Yuxinou will continue to tap the potential of economy and trade between western China and Malaysia, to realize the two-way normal operation of the Chongqing-Malaysia rail intermodal line as soon as possible, give full play to the role of Chongqing as the hub connecting the "the Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. By doing this, it will further expand the intermodal transport scale of China Railway Express and the new western land-sea corridor and continue to empower the construction of the new western land-sea corridor, so as to guide the coordinated development of regions and opening wider to the outside world.
