CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Second Gathering of Bayu Intangible Cultural Heritage Heroes & the 2023 Culture and Natural Heritage Theme Activity took place in Wansheng Ancient Street in Wansheng Economic Development Zone, Chongqing, offering various performances related to the intangible cultural heritage in Sichuan and Chongqing, such as Jinqiao wind and percussion instrument performance, Sichuan opera faces, and Lusheng dance.

The activity aims to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between Sichuan and Chongqing and realize co-construction and sharing of resources, interaction, and win-win cooperation between the two regions. The event site consisted of five major areas: Intangible Cultural Heritage Performance, Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience, Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair, Cultural Exhibition, and Culture and Creativity Block, offering visitors chances to view and learn more about intangible cultural heritage and experience and purchase intangible cultural heritage products.

Over 50 intangible cultural heritage projects were displayed and more than 100 kinds of intangible cultural heritage products were on sale during the event, including Mi’s Duck, Guanba Rice Noodles, Guanba Pear Cream, Wen’s Traditional Handmade Cakes, handicrafts weaved with palm fiber, Miao embroidery, dough sculpting, and Qinxihe bamboo furniture.

Moreover, there were over ten interactive activities for visitors such as black and white woodcuts, Bayu lantern riddles, pitch-pot games, and Qinzhou hidden text. At the same time, a monographic exhibition of stone carvings of maids in the Song Dynasty in Luxian County, Sichuan is launched at the event. “We can know more about the intangible cultural heritage and learn from the craftsmen step by step in the event. It offers a special artistic experience and makes intangibles more understood,” said a visitor.

Sichuan and Chongqing are rich in cultural resources and have great potential and opportunities for cooperation. On the same day, a forum for cooperation and exchange between the Sichuan and Chongqing tourism industries was held in Wansheng, with representatives of the governments and enterprises from Wansheng, Kaizhou, Dujiangyan, Luxian, and Hejiang sharing experiences and suggestions on the integration of culture and tourism resources, exchanges and interaction, route planning, publicity and promotion, and new opportunities for innovation. Sichuan and Chongqing will make joint efforts to further deepen cooperation, strengthen promotion, build characteristic routes, share preferential policies, promote cultural exchanges, build a Bash cultural tourism corridor, and promote high-quality development of culture and tourism industry in Sichuan and Chongqing.
