CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport launched international connecting flights on June 27. Those who book connecting flights from Chongqing and Rome to Madrid can reach the destination with one flight ticket and their luggage will be automatically loaded onto the next plane. According to the booking statistics, it is expected that the first international connecting flight from Chongqing will witness 190 outbound passengers and more than 200 pieces of checked baggage.

The connecting flight is a new transit mode. Under the guidance and support of Chongqing Customs and after the approval of the General Administration of Customs, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has successfully implemented international connecting flights. Connecting passengers who book an international connecting flight from or to Chongqing will receive two boarding passes when they check in at the airport and their luggage will be automatically transported to the destination.

The international flight service launched by Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will automatically transfer the luggage for connecting passengers. When entering or leaving Jiangbei International Airport, connecting passengers are subject to customs quarantine inspection and go through customs formalities for carry-on luggage. Suspicious luggage will be opened for examination, and normal check-in luggage will be handled by local service companies and airlines. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will provide exclusive ground services to international connecting passengers, such as pick-up and guidance, waiting area, and transit passage. Connecting passengers can also enjoy a series of “Fly Chongqing-Pleasant Transit” services, such as special restrooms, overnight accommodation, and RMB30 consumption coupons in the terminal building.

At present, international outbound connecting flights via Chongqing have been available in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Haikou, and international inbound connecting flights via Chongqing has been available in all cities in the mainland. Data show that the connecting passengers from Chongqing to Rome and Madrid account for more than 80% and 70% respectively, and the availability of international connecting flights will enhance the transit experience of the passengers in all aspects.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has 16 international (regional) air routes in operation and offers nearly 80 flights per week. The airport has resumed 5 intercontinental air routes to London, Rome, Madrid, Budapest, and Moscow; 8 Asian air routes to Dubai, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh, Nha Trang; and 3 regional air routes to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan airlines.
