CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Without football, it would be difficult for them to change their fate. But there is no “if” in this cool story.

On June 25, Sun Xiaoming, the former principal of Shizhu Sanhe Primary School, wrote on his Moments:

“Ten years ago, a girls’ football team consisting of 20 girls left behind was set up in a primary school in the mountains. Today, 19 of them have realized their dream of being admitted by universities. A lot of people were moved your stories of chasing your dreams. You are the role models of the latter. Congratulations!”

In April 2017, CQNEWS reported on "A Left-behind Girls' Football Team in the Mountains", telling their stories about chasing football dreams. Since then, the girls’ football team of Sanhe Primary School in Shizhu County, Chongqing won the special award of "Ten People Touching Chongqing" in 2017. Last summer, we visited this football team again and released a report titled 'Kick out a Future'.

Football has truly become a "passport" for the girls in these mountains to walk out of the mountains and be admitted by universities.

“Congratulations, you have been admitted to your desired university!" When the reporter called Ma Lingqiao, who had just been admitted to Shanghai Sport University this year, she had just finished her training.

Ma Lingqiao was a bit excited but very modest. During this summer vocation, she was doing a part-time job helping some children do football training.

As her name suggests, Ma Lingqiao is a clever and ingenious girl in the eyes of other people. She was admitted to Shanghai University of Sport with the second place in the football project this year.

“The most important truth of life that football has taught me is perseverance”. In Ma Lingqiao's view, football has changed her destiny and she was admitted to college. However, football is not an easy way to go; instead, it requires a lot of hard work and effort along the way.

Ma Lingqiao's parents used to advise her on the phone not to play football and to study harder. However, they are now proud of their daughter because of football.

On the billboard of Sanhe Primary School announcing the names of successful candidates, Zhang Jie was admitted to Beijing Sport University. She is a cousin of Ma Lingqiao.

“Football is no longer a simple sport for me. It gives me confidence and makes me more outgoing," said Zhang Jie.

The small dam in front of the house of Ma Lingqiao and Zhang Jie's grandmother was where the two girls practiced football after school. The tips of their shoes were always worn because they always kicked the stones by the road when they saw some. Finally, both of them were admitted to their dream universities.

On the billboard, Ma Shitong, admitted to Fujian Normal University, Xiang Yuxin, admitted to Ningxia University, and Li Chunju, admitted to Northeast Normal University..., could also been found.

The green football field watered by their sweat witnessed their hard journey. It was football that led them to a broader and happier world.

This girls’ football team in the mountains will never stop progressing, and these tough football girls are still trying to create new stories... (Translated by Hu Chuanmin, Fathom Language Limited)
