As an integral part of Chinese traditional culture, lacquer painting combines lacquer craft and painting techniques. It’s practical and artistic, involving industrial art and the art of painting. Lacquer art has bloomed in the "garden" of the world’s culture and art for over 8,000 years.

The national exhibition of lacquer paintings was held in the West for the first time, which means that Chongqing's fine arts industry has developed to a certain height, said Wang Farong. He added that the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, as one of the sponsors of this event, played an important role in the successful national exhibition of lacquer paintings in Chongqing. It is one of the first higher art colleges in China to introduce traditional lacquer art to the specialized education system. It greatly contributes to the research and creation of Chinese lacquer paintings and the development of contemporary Chinese lacquer art.

The exhibition will be accessible for free from June 28, 2023, to July 29, 2023, in Chongqing Art Museum.
