CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Last weekend, the 10th Chongqing Olympic Sports Center Swimming Festival and the second preliminary contest of the “Swimming Star” Youth Trials, sponsored by the Chongqing Administration of Sport, and Chongqing Jiulongpo People’s Government, started in the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center, attracting nearly 200 participants.

This preliminary contest continued the rules of the first contest in April. There were eight groups: the 6-year-old group, the 7-year-old group, the 8-year-old group, the 9-year-old group, the10-to 11-year-old group, the 12-to-13-year-old group, the 14-to-15-year-old group, the 15-to-16-year-old group, and the 16-to-17-year-old group. Nearly 150 youngsters competed in 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 50m butterfly.

Dai Xuan, a 10-year-old from Chongqing’s Yubei, signed up for three swimming events and won three "Golden Dolphins" certificates in a row. "I have been fond of water activities since I swam for the first time in the fourth year of my primary school studies. I will achieve better results in the competition!” said Dai.

Statistics show that the qualification rate of the second preliminary contest was significantly higher than that of the first contest. 87% of the contestants won the "Golden Dolphin" certificate. According to the competition rules of this Swimming Festival, the top three of each competition group in the two contests will be qualified to participate in the final in August.
