Chongqing to be hotter than last year? Let's look at the latest forecast

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Chongqing Meteorological Regular Press Conference was held on July 13. According to the information from the meeting, from July 15 to the early stage of the last ten days of August, Chongqing will enter a period of fine and hot weather with a little rain. It is estimated that there will be about 25 days with a high temperature of 37°C or above and about eight days with a high temperature of 40°C or above.

According to the latest forecast, a new round of heavy rain will occur in Chongqing from July 13 to 14. Between July 15 and the early stage of the last ten days of August, most areas in Chongqing will gradually enter a phase of fine and hot weather with a little rain. This period will witness a large number of days with high temperatures, less precipitation, and more meteorological drought.

From mid-July to August, the average temperature will be 0.8°C higher than the same period of the previous year; the number of days with a high temperature of above 37°C will be around 25, which are more than the same period of the previous year; around eight days will see a high temperature of above 40°C, which are more than the same period of the previous year; the highest temperature will reach about 42°C.

Chongqing will witness low rainfall during this period, with an average precipitation of 200 mm, 20% less than the usual (242.8 mm); precipitation in the northeast and southeast areas is 10% higher, and precipitation in other regions is 10-30% less.

It is expected that from the middle of July to the end of August, most areas of Chongqing will see 20 to 35 days of light and moderate meteorological drought, the number of which is more than the same period in previous years. The central and western regions will experience moderate meteorological drought.

The temperature has been relatively high this year

An average of 5.3 days with a temperature of above 35°C 

Since the beginning of this year, the average temperature of Chongqing has been 16.5℃, 0.4 ℃ higher than that of the same period of previous years (16.1℃), and close to that of the same period of last year (16.6℃). The precipitation has reached 561.6 mm, close to that of the same period of the previous year (596.1 mm). Rongchang, Dazu, Yongchuan, Tongnan, Tongliang, Jiangjin, and Shapingba saw a 30 to 50% decrease in precipitation, and the northeastern area of Chongqing saw a 20 to 40% decrease.

The number of days with high temperatures is close to the normal level, and the periodic meteorological drought is obvious this year. There has been an average of 5.3 days with a temperature of above 35°C this year, and the number compares with the level for the same periods of previous years.
