CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Chengdu Universiades taekwondo competition will be held in the gymnasium of Sichuan University (Wangjiang Campus) from July 29 to August 4. The 7-day event will produce 23 gold medal winners.

Huang Xiaoling, deputy leader of the Chinese taekwondo team and dean of the Sports School of Southwest University, and some of the team members arrived in Chengdu and lived in the Universiade Village on July 21.

Before coming to Chengdu, the taekwondo team had been training for a month at the Wuzhishan Olympic Sports Training Center in Hainan province, said Huang Xiaoling. The training aimed to help the team members build their stamina, control their weights, and learn more about anti-doping. In light of potential opponents they may meet at the competition, the training offered specialized technical and tactical exercises to help them get themselves in the best condition. Besides, corresponding solutions were also given to the problems that may occur in the competition. There’s another training after the team members arrive at Universiade Village. It’s learned that they are adapted well to the two training sessions.
