CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Ram Chandra Poudel, President of Nepal met Yuan Jiajun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee on July 23. 

Yuan first conveyed the cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping to Poudel. He said that China and Nepal are linked by mountains and rivers and enjoy ever-lasting friendship. China is ready to work with Nepal to implement the important consensus reached with Nepal during President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal in 2019, deepen pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and push for a deeper and more solid China-Nepal strategic partnership. The CPC will strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding with all political parties in Nepal and promote the development of bilateral relations. Chongqing hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Nepal in agriculture, poverty reduction, and education and to deepen bilateral relations with subnational exchanges.

Poudel asked Yuan Jiajun to convey his best wishes to President Xi Jinping. Nepal and China enjoy a long history of friendship and close exchanges in various fields, said Poudel. They appreciate China for providing strong support for the development of Nepal over the years, and they will always uphold the one-China policy and not allow any forces to engage in any anti-China activities in the territory of Nepal. Nepal will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the government, political parties, and local governments of China to advance the co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and promote greater development of bilateral relations.

At the invitation of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center), Yuan Jiajun led a CPC delegation to visit Nepal from July 23 to July 25. During the visit, Yuan held a video call with Prime Minister Prachanda, met with Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Khadgar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Shresta, President of the Congress Party Deupa and President of the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxian-Leninism) Oli respectively, and attended the "Light Up the Future" – the action on people's livelihood and poverty reduction of Chinese and Nepali political parties with Speaker of the House of Representatives Ghimire.
