CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Infrastructure constitutes an important material foundation for modern cities and also an important support for economic and social development. In 2023, over 210 billion yuan is planned to be invested in the key infrastructure projects at the municipal level in Chongqing, and a total of 114.3 billion yuan has been invested in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 26.6%, 53.1% of the total planned investment, steadily enhancing the investors’ confidence.

Move “faster” to boost Chongqing’s strength in transportation

59.3 billion yuan has been invested in key projects in Chongqing’s transportation field in the first half of 2023.

For projects such as T3B Terminal and Runway 4 in Jiangbei International Airport, Terminal expansion project in Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport, Fuling Longtou Port Railway, Chongqing section of Wuxi-Zhenping Expressway, the goal of “over half” of total planned investment made has been achieved.

For the traffic hub project of Chongqingdong railway station, 4.78 billion yuan has been invested in the first half of the year, 63.7% of the total planned investment. Projects such as the subgrade of Kaicheng Road and the two-way breakthrough of Qiaopingshan Tunnel have been successfully completed.

The overall image progress of the Chongqing section of the Tongliang-Anyue Expressway and the Chongqing section of the Jiangjin-Luzhou North Line Expressway has been completed by over 80%. It is expected that the main body will be completed in the second half of the year, further promoting the connectivity of transportation infrastructure between regions.

Make urban traffic more “smooth”

About 35 billion yuan in total has been invested in key projects in the urban construction sector that are closely related to the daily life and travel of citizens, 62.3% of the total planned investment, an increase of 6.1 percent points on a year-on-year basis.

In the field of rail transit, the northern extension of Line 5 has been put into operation at the beginning of the year. Currently, there are 15 projects under construction, including Line 27, Line 15 Phase I, Line 5 Phase I, and Line 18, covering a construction mileage of approximately 360 kilometers, which will accelerate the implementation of Chongqing’s "850 +" urban rail transit network plan.

In the field of bridge and tunnel, projects such as Lujiao Tunnel and Baoshan Jialing River Bridge have started in the first half of the year, and over 80% of the annual planned investment has been made in Science City Tunnel and Baishiyi Tunnel. In the field of expressway network, over 60% of the overall construction progress of projects such as Expressway Vertical Line 1 Science Avenue Phrase I and the connecting road project of Chongqing-Guizhou Double Line Expressway has been completed.

Build “more” energy Infrastructure

As an important channel for the national West-to-East Power Transmission Project and an important node connecting the power grids across the central and western regions, Chongqing works to strengthen the construction of energy infrastructure and improve the energy security system, which will play an important role in the construction of the Home Front of the national energy security and service strategy. This year, Chongqing has deployed 81 key energy projects, an increase of 38 year-on-year. Among them, 44 have started as planned, with a total investment of 64.24 billion yuan.

In the first half of the year, a total of 15.29 billion yuan has been invested in key energy infrastructure projects at the municipal level, and 20 projects including the environmental protection relocation project of Shenhua Guoneng Chongqing Power Plant have been promoted rapidly, with the investment schedule completed over 60%. According to the progress of these projects, 17 projects including Caiziba pumped storage power station in Fengjie have successfully started. The Hami North- Chongqing ± 800kV High-voltage direct current project is expected to be approved by the National Development and Reform Commission this month. The Hechuan Shuanghuai Power Plant Phrase III Project, with the land category adjustment confirmed, will begin in the third quarter.

“Optimize” water resource allocation

The municipal key modern water network project is an important carrier for building an intensive and efficient water resource supply system with multiple complementary sources and regional connectivity. In the first half of the year, a total of 4.77 billion yuan has been invested in these projects, and 8 projects have started as planned or in advance, accounting 72.7% of the total projects.

This year's water conservancy projects mainly consists of 24 reservoir projects, with a total reservoir capacity of 740 million cubic meters. Among them, Qijiang Zaodu Reservoir is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects by the State Council, and nearly 600 million yuan has been invested in it, which has entered the main construction stage. In the second half of the year, projects such as the Baidao Lake Reservoir in Fengjie will also start, which will provide more high-quality productive and domestic water for residents nearby, and accelerate the construction of Chongqing’s urban-rural integrated water resource allocation network.
