The workers of TOPWIN TOY (in Fuling, Chongqing) were rushing out the mystery boxes of Rongbao, the mascots of Chengdu Universiade, on July 27. Up to now, the number of mystery box orders has exceeded one million, and the daily output has reached 80,000. (Photographed by Liu Yini and intern Wang Haibei / Visual Chongqing)
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Nearly 20 reporters were purchasing the licensed products of the Chengdu Universiade in the licensed retail store on the first floor of the Main Media Center of Chengdu Universiade on the morning of July 27. When asked about the sales of the “astronaut Rongbao”, the staff answered that it would probably be two days before they can be restocked.
The mascot of the Chengdu Universiade is a giant panda called “Rongbao”. Chengdu Universiade has franchised its cultural and creative product business to 80 enterprises, including non-legacy enterprises, manufacturers of cultural and creative products related to Bing Dwen Dwen, and top cultural and creative enterprises. They have innovatively launched 18 series of Rongbao mascots, such as toys, badges, and stationery, totaling more than 1,000 licensed products. The popular “astronaut Rongbao” is manufactured by Chongqing TOPWIN TOY, which aims to pay tribute to China's space industry and encourage young people to be adventurous and passionate.
A billboard reading "Limited-edition Commemorative Medal of the Games" is displayed at the entrance of the licensed retail store in the Main Media Centre. The commemorative medal integrates elements of Rongbao, the Main Media Center, and Dong’an Lake, which is very attractive. The limited-edition commemorative medals on the shelves almost sold out. Though the complete set of medals is priced at over 1000 yuan, it sells like hotcakes. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
