CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 30, at the Chongqing exhibition area of 31st National Book Expo, a group of people dressed in historical costumes were having a conversation, sometimes they were lighthearted and sometimes they were passionate, attracting passers-by to stop and watch. This was the experience scene of Story of Taipingmen, namely the opening work of the new “scene-based reading” series of Chongqing Publishing Group.

Experiencers simply changed their clothes, and then they could become the protagonists of Story of Taipingmen, and follow the professional actors to experience a different kind of life. Many readers were attracted by the new reading mode including “scene + interpretation + immersion”. “This reading experience is great, and I want to try it again!” A young reader cheered after the experience.

The novel Story of Taipingmen tells the story of Sichuan and Chongqing people searching for the truth of national salvation and the path of revolution during the 10 years from 1910 when Chuanhan Railway was built, to 1920 when the first batch of graduates of Chongqing Preparatory School for Studying in France went to France for work-study. “Xinglong Teahouse”, one of the places where the story took place in Story of Taipingmen, was reproduced.

“It’s the first time for me to experience scene-based reading which allows me to experience in the story. I hope Chongqing Publishing Group to create more quality products like this.” Li Hongxia, a guest from Hunan participating in the Expo said.

Chongqing Publishing Group provided two “scene-based reading” series at the Expo. The first was Story of Taipingmen which was for group building published in April 2023, and the other was Run, Tiger Run which was for parent-child immersion researching and studying based on a children animation IP.

“Scene-based reading” integrates game, drama, interaction and other elements to attract readers to the story itself with immersive techniques, improving reading experience, stimulating reading desire, and deepening the ideological core of the work. The new experience of “three-dimensional” reading brought by “scene” opens up new ideas for the diversified fusion publishing and IP innovation realization of publishing industry.
