The Exhibition, which recreates the mystery world of Bianjing in the Song Dynasty in a digital, immersive and realistic form, will last until the end of February 2024.

“A Dream Journey through Springtime along the River – Palace Museum Immersive Art Exhibition” is developed by Phoenix Digital Technology subordinated to Phoenix Satellite Television and Palace Museum Press on the basis of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival which is a famous work by Zhang Zeduan in the Northern Song Dynasty and collected in the Palace Museum.

According to reports, the Exhibition uses immersive means to create the Song Dynasty scenes in the painting, including the giant dynamic high-definition projection, immersive theater, CAVE Theater and others to build the real and virtual scenes, and the experience of people immersed in the painting. At the same time, the main cultural exhibition area of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival leads audiences to immerse themselves in it, understand the painting from different aspects and personally experience the world in the painting.

Among them, the immersive theater, combined with atmosphere, light and shadow and music, reproduces the spring scenes in the Song Dynasty through holographic technology. “The plot is different for everyone here, reflecting the Song Dynasty society, and the vitality under the writing of Dongjing Meng Hua Lu is surging.” introduction by a staff.

Moreover, visitors can also take a boat ride in the immersive CAVE Theater. According to reports, the scene transforms a flat static picture into a visually movable three-dimensional space so that visitors can see the aspects of the human world in the first perspective.

The most interesting thing is that 100 of the 814 figures depicted in Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival are selected and shown in the Exhibition so that visitors can become a member of the painting through face recognition, photo matching and then AI face changing technology to pay a “visit” to Bianjing in person.

“A Dream Journey through Springtime along the River – Palace Museum Immersive Art Exhibition” is open from 09:30 to 18:00 and closes after 17:00 every Tuesday to Sunday.
