CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The first Chongqing Village Basketball Competition (or "CunBA") Finals under the theme of “a harmonious and beautiful countryside” came to an end among cheers from thousands of audiences. Kaixian Chuncheng Team beat Dianjiang Shanshui Mudan Team in the dramatic final and won the championship. 

Chongqing held the “CunBA” competition for the first time this year. Eight teams participated in the race to obtain admission tickets to the “CunBA” Finals in Southwest China.

All players played and competed as hard as they could during the four-day competition, which deeply touched the live audience. The viewing platform was filled with an audience, and those who did not get the best seat for game viewing stood on a bench or climbed up a ladder to cheer for their favorite players.

The Wansheng Heishanhong Tea is the prize for the championship. Rustic charm is the most distinct feature of Chongqing “CunBA”. The participants are amateur players and the prizes only include tea, peach, pear, bamboo shoots, and other featured agricultural products. The names of the teams, which consist of the district/county name and the local specialty, also show the earthiness of rural people. For example, Beibei Youjian Liuyin Team indicates Beibei District and willow trees, Qijiang Goat Team represents Qijiang District and goats, Pengshui Hongshu Team represents Pengshui County and sweet potatoes, Wushan Cuili Team represents Wushan County and crispy plums, Wansheng Heishanhong Team presents Wansheng High-tech Zone and Heishanhong Tea, Kaixian Chuncheng Team represents Kaixian County and Spring Oranges, Wanzhou Meigui Xiangcheng Team represents Wanzhou District and Rose Oranges, and Dianjiang Shanshui Mudan Team represents Dianjiang County and peony trees.

Chen Xianrui, a member of the Wushan Cuili Team, said that they picked plums during the day and played basketball at night. Li Yusheng, a member of the Dianjiang Shanshui Mudan Team, operates two logistic companies. To win glory for his hometown, he has been dedicated to basketball training. Ran Xingxing, a member of the Kaixian Chuncheng Team, asked for leave to participate in the “CunBA”. It is the original intention of Chongqing “CunBA” to allow more farmers like Chen Xianrui, Li Yusheng, and Ran Xingxing to participate in rural sports so as to improve simple folkways and stimulate the vitality of rural culture.
