A baby panda in Chongqing Zoo is one month old!

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Zoo on August 6, the giant panda Mang Zai gave birth to a baby boy on July 6, 2023. The baby weighed 191g at birth, which is the heaviest giant panda born at Chongqing Zoo.

On August 6, when the panda cub was one month old, it made its debut through a live webcast on the social media platform, delighting many netizens.

With the help of keepers, Mang Zai has been feeding her baby in the maternity ward since it was born. She has a fierce maternal instinct and sufficient milk to feed her baby, whose weight increased rapidly and has reached 1439g.

The panda Mang Zai and the panda Jin Ke mated naturally at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in March. It was the third time Mang Zai had given birth to a baby panda. Mang Zai became a mother in 2019 when she gave birth to twin sisters Xi Xi and Qing Qing. She was delivered of twin brothers Xing Xing and Chen Chen in 2021.

The reporter learned that Chongqing Zoo began raising giant pandas in the 1960s and started breeding panda cubs in the 1980s.
