CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 12-day 31st Chengdu FISU World University Games Summer concluded on the evening of August 8. Those excited memories of youth can always be recorded.

If asked what the youth should look like at this moment?

I think it should be –

Brave to be yourself. You are the most wonderful when marching forward courageously.

Dreams always make people feel excited. Many sports superstars around the world start their journey to realize their dreams from the FISU World University Games.

In the Beijing FISU World University Games 2001, Li Na won the tennis championship in women's singles. 22 years later, Chinese player Guo Hanyu from Southwest University won the tennis championship in women's singles at the Chengdu 31st FISU World University Games.

After the game, her postgraduate supervisor Guo Liya told the reporter that Guo Hanyu had worn off a large piece of skin on the sole of her feet due to the intensive schedule. It was perseverance and persistence that made her to the final.

22 years ago, the FISU World University Games became the starting point for Li Na to go to the world. Has Guo Hanyu seen a further journey from the podium in Chengdu today?

She answered: “I didn't think too much about that, but I will do my best in the future.”

Zhang Wen'ao, a 21-year-old young man from Chongqing, won a precious gold medal with the only 10 points obtained in the three-meter springboard final with a wonderful jump.

For Zhang Wenao, this is his first gold medal in an international comprehensive competition.

After the game, Huang Xiaoling, the president of the Southwest University School of Physical Education, told the reporter, "it was very difficult to do the last jump. Some referees gave him 10 points, indicating their high recognition of this action. This is the pride of our country and the pride of college students.

Liang Jie and Liu Siyue, students from Chongqing Vocational College of Economics and Trade, won the gold medal in Taekwondo mixed doubles poomsae. Liang Jie was once looked down upon. "She had a bad base of Taekwondo when she joined in the team at the very beginning," the coach Zhang Yinyu said. Liang Jie has learned Taekwondo under the guidance of him for more than 10 years. She has to practice after class almost every night because she needs to attend culture classes during daytime, and even practices more privately after the daily training.

On the night of the women's basketball final between China and Japan, the venue was almost occupied.

Before the final started, waves of cheers seemed to be about to overturn the roof of the Ice Basket Gym in Phoenix Mountain Sports Park.

At the end of the second quarter against the Japanese team, facing the unfavorable situation where the opponent had narrowed the score gap to 1 point, "Big Baby" Liu Yutong firmly completed slam dunks, made 4 out of 4 shots, and scored 8 points in a row.

All the audience cheered and applauded for the chubby girl at the moment.

After winning the championship, Tang Ziting, a Chongqing girl of the team, cried and hugged with her family. Her aunt patted her head and said in Chongqing dialect, "our family has a champion now!”

The glory of this moment was closely linked to the hard training over thousands of days and nights on the field of Nankai Middle School - girls including Tang Ziting, never interrupt their training every year except 2 days off during the Spring Festival holiday.

Perhaps this is the charm of competitive sports; sweat and tears are the best proof of athletes' perseverance.

At this FISU World University Games, Chongqing athletes won a total of 10 gold medals. Whether winning a gold medal or not, all the figures who strive to realize their dreams are worthy of respect.

Off the arena, this summer, more than 6,500 young people come from all over the world to join to this big youth party in Chengdu.

At the beginning of the night, the cultural market in Chengdu Universiade Village is shining brightly, pitch-pot, Cuju, Weaving… College athletes from all over the world exchange and interact with each other with great interest, exchanging badges, and sharing happiness.

The Universiade Village is filled with college athletes of different skin colors, nationalities, and languages. Inside and outside the village and the arena, they meet, know each other and become friends.

Many foreign athletes come in groups to the Giant Panda Base. When asked about their feelings about the FISU World University Games, Andres, an athlete from Peru, said, "this is a great journey.”

At late nights, hot pot restaurants are bustling, the Hehuachi Market welcomes groups of athletes to "sweep goods", the autostereoscopy in Taikoo Li Village is surrounded by a group of athletes, and the glass curtain walls of high-rise buildings in Vlog are shining... the nature of entertainment in Chengdu such as tasting delicious food, amusement, shopping, and traveling is well "grasped" by foreign athletes.

At the opening ceremony, the scene that TOSCAN Fabio Andrea, the only athlete of the Liechtenstein delegation, waved a flag with a smile, became a classic scene, and netizens cheered on this "lone warrior". However, she, despite caming from afar, said she was not alone: "I have friends from various delegations and enthusiastic local friends, and the language services provided by volunteers make me feel at home.”

There are a total of 20,000 volunteers, described by TOSCAN Fabio andrea, coming from 35 universities across the country, distributed in major competition venues, Universiade villages, main media centers, opening and closing ceremonies, technical officer locations, airports and stations, reception hotels... They have a common name – "Little Green Pepper".

Liang Yikang, a "Little Green Pepper" from Chongqing, believed that the days spent in the Universiade Village will be a wonderful time during his youth. “I have made many foreign friends and experienced various exotic customs. I’m grateful to the meeting this midsummer, and I hope all young athletes will have a promising future!”

Exquisite little crown, cards filled with blessings... At the main media center, Miriam Celebiler, an international young journalist from the United States, was pleasantly surprised and moved on her 22nd birthday. Here, she has met many young Chinese journalists of the same age. "Everyone comes here to learn, have fun, and make lifelong friends.”

Although the competition is over, this youthful friendship will be continued in their following life.
