CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Ocean Engine City Research Institute subordinated to Tik Tok released 2023 Chinese Cities’ Nighttime Economy Development Report which puts forward the city nighttime economic prosperity index and comprehensively evaluates the city nighttime economic vitality.

According to the city nighttime economic prosperity index released by Ocean Engine City Research Institute, based on the visiting and consumption data on Tik Tok, the city nighttime economic vitality is comprehensively assessed by the activity of users, their consumption power, and the supply of nighttime services during the nighttime hours (18:00 - 02:00).

According to the analysis of this index, TOP 100 cities in 2023 Chinese Cities’ Nighttime Economic Prosperity were divided into three tiers, with the distribution of regions showing the characteristics of being strong in the east, weak in the west, and strong in the south and weak in the north. Chongqing was in the first tier in terms of nighttime economic prosperity, and it has been ranked No. 1 on Tik Tok List of Good Cities for more than 20 consecutive months.

Specifically, three cities including Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou have the strongest spending power on local food, drink and entertainment categories, followed by Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Hangzhou and Chongqing.

In addition, different cities, with different economic and humanistic environments, have different prominent categories, which can be roughly categorized into five categories according to the tendency of Tik Tok users to visit. The second category takes playing as the advantage category, and it drives the users’ night activity through the scenic area, and releases the users’ consumption power through hotel so as to drive the development of nighttime economy. This is called as “Boosting Nighttime Economy by Playing”, and the most representative cities are Chongqing and Shanghai.

Chongqing’s nighttime economy city portrait also highlights the characteristics of an international consumption center city and a popular tourist destination.

Relying on the resource advantages of “two rivers and four riverbanks”, Chongqing highlights the four major elements including “mountain, water, city and bridge”, and focuses on Landmark Riverside Park to create an international nighttime economic zone focusing on “three-dimensional mountain city”, “light and shadow river city”, “charming bridge city” and “nighttime Chongqing”. 8D magic and futuristic city has become a symbol with very marked significance of Chongqing’s nighttime economy.

According to the time when foreign tourists visit Chongqing, the number of visitors gradually increases from early morning to nighttime and peaks at 21:00 at night before beginning to decline, while the amount of visitors shopping peaks at 22:00. Unlike tourists, local users in Chongqing ushers in the first peak of visiting at 11:00, and then continues to be at a high level until 21:00 before declining, which can be said to be active throughout the day.

This is inextricably linked to Chongqing’s increasing guidance and support for the nighttime economy, and the promotion of business, tourism, culture and sports and other forms of integration and development.

According to the person in charge of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Chongqing held a special investment promotion meeting for nighttime economic projects, and successfully concluded seven projects so as to integrate more resources for the construction of the nighttime Chongqing with “Chongqing Style & International Style” by seizing important strategic opportunities such as the construction of Chengdu - Chongqing Economic Circle, comprehensive pilot of expanding the opening-up of Chongqing’s service industry, and cultivation and construction of an international consumption center city by means of comprehensive initiatives such as policy supporting, project driving, activity leading and exchanges and cooperation.
