Chongqing achieves remarkable results in cultivating and building itself into international consumption center city

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter recently learned from the press conference on the second anniversary of Chongqing’s cultivation and building of an international consumer center city that over the past two years, Chongqing has achieved remarkable results in cultivating and building itself into an international consumption center city, and the average growth rate of the total volume of retail sales in the city was 3.8% which is 0.3% higher than the national average growth rate. In the first half of this year, the city’s regional GDP increased by 4.6%, and the total volume of retail sales and the added value of the service industry increased by 6.2% and 5.0% respectively.
The creation of “Chongqing quality goods” is accelerated
To cultivate and build an international consumption center city, it is inevitable to accelerate the gathering of “world famous products”. In the past two years, Chongqing has released the first store economic policy version 2.0, and increased the first store economy and tax-free economic support through the implementation of consumer brand improvement and expansion actions. Up to now, Chongqing has introduced more than 1,100 international well-known brands. In the first half of this year, Chongqing introduced 152 brand first stores in total, realizing a growth rate of 141%.
Only when it belongs to the people does it belong to the world. While constantly introducing world-renowned brands, Chongqing is also accelerating the creation of time-honored brands and “intangible cultural heritage” products, and enhancing the appeal of international consumers to “Chongqing craft” and being “Made in Chongqing” by creating “Chongqing quality goods”. Up to now, Chongqing has cultivated a total of 18 Chinese time-honored brands and 291 Chongqing time-honored brands.
Chongqing also pays attention to the integration of “industry” and “consumption”. In the past two years, Chongqing has followed the trend of consumption upgrading, continued expanding industrial clusters such as intelligent networked new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, new materials, biomedical, aerospace and consumer goods, and actively cultivated modern service industries such as modern finance, software information, business logistics, sports and tourism. In the first half of this year, among pillar industries, the material, automobile and consumer goods industries increased by 8.7%, 5.3% and 5.2% respectively.
“Landscape appearance” becomes the carrier of consumption
Chongqing is built on the mountain and near the water, with a unique city “appearance”. In the two years of cultivating and building an international consumption center city, Chongqing has actively built a consumption carrier with “landscape appearance” based on its own characteristics and advantages.
For example, Chongqing has created special consumption scenes such as “Cloud Roof”, “Cozy River Bank”, “Back Streets and Alleys” and “Park Business”, and built new consumption landmarks such as Landmark Riverside Park which combines the bright night scenery of “two rivers and four rbanks”, Chongqing MIXC which has the most demonstration effect and “one-stop” shopping center in Southwest China, and The Ring Shopping Park which shows the first indoor forest immersive experience in China. As a result, Chongqing consumer carrier has both international and Bayu styles.
In addition, Chongqing has created a new consumption scene by bringing together the characteristics of mountain cities such as riverside and air defense caves, and successively launched integrated consumption places such as Longmenhao Old Street, Raffles “Transverse Ferris Wheel” and The Light of Three Gorges, adding to the unique charm of “Bayu New Consumption”.
Chongqing also has its own emphasis on creating consumer carriers, currently focusing on the central business district and Cuntan International New City, and promoting the construction of core carrying areas as a whole. Meanwhile, the construction of world-renowned business districts such as Jiefangbei - Chaotianmen Business District, Guanyinqiao Business District, and high-end quality commercial projects such as MIXC and International Land-sea Center are also progressing in an orderly manner.
“Mountain city memories” are integrated into consumer brands
When cultivating and building an international consumer center city, Chongqing is also highlighting its own characteristics, so that more “mountain city memories” are integrated into consumer brands.
This first is “Chongqing Nightlife”. Chongqing accelerated the integration of “9 St”, Jiaochangkou, Minxin Jiayuan and other night market blocks, upgraded Hongyadong and other Internet celebrities at night economic consumption landmarks, enriched the “night taste, night nourishing, night viewing, night playing, night shopping” and other consumption formats, and continued holding the “Chongqing Nightlife Festival”. In this context, Chongqing has topped the list of “China’s Top Ten Cities with Night Economy Influence” for three consecutive years.
The second is “City of Gastronomy”. Chongqing has further enhanced the international influence of “Taste of Chongqing” by expanding the industrial chain of special food such as “Chongqing simple noodles” and “Chongqing snacks”. In the past two years, the catering industry tax revenue of Chongqing increased by 23.1%.
The third is “Landscape Tourism”. Chongqing has built itself into an internationally renowned tourist destination around the metropolis, Three Gorges and Wuling, and accelerated the construction of the Yangtze River and the Long March National Cultural Park. Up to now, Chongqing has 11 5A scenic spots. In the first half of this year, a total of 50.99 million overnight visitors were received, realizing a growth rate of 90.6% and a growth rate of 4.3% compare with that of 2019.
In addition, with the theme of “Love in Chongqing · Enjoy Consumption”, Chongqing has organized more than 2,000 theme festival activities such as International Consumption Festival, Hotpot Food Culture Festival and Chengdu-Chongqing Consumption Festival, and strived to create a consumer activity brand with unique Bayu characteristics, highlighting Chinese elements and leading fashion trends. Chongqing has also combined the cultivation and construction of an international consumption center city with the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle in Chengdu and Chongqing, and issued the Implementation Plan for Building an International Consumption Destination with Bashu Characteristics, to accelerate the integration of the superior resources of the two places, promote the coordination of industrial supporting, promote the sharing of consumer services, and create a large consumption scene with Bashu characteristics and global influence.
