Chongqing CBDs listed in the top five business districts for night activities in China

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With the huge boom in tourism this summer, Jiefangbei Central Business District has attracted a large number of tourists from home and abroad. Chongqing Jiefangbei, Shanghai Disney, Changsha Wuyi Square, Chongqing Guanyinqiao, and Chengdu Chunxi Shopping Mall, have become the top five business districts in China, with searches related to “night activities” and “night markets” in China surging 80% compared with the same period last year, according to data released by Meituan and Dianping.

Data released by Meituan and Dianping show that since July, the number of domestic travel orders doubled compared with the same period in 2019; the consumption of life services such as catering, leisure, and entertainment reaches the peak at 7:00 p.m. every day.

Chongqing Jiefangbei, Shanghai Disney, Changsha Wuyi Square, Chongqing Guanyinqiao, and Chengdu Chunxi Shopping Mall have been the top five business districts for night activities in China; some of the other business districts witnessed a 60% year-on-year increase in night-time consumption.

Since the summer, the number of catering outlets offering night-time snacks has increased by 60% on a yearly basis, and the number of related orders has surged more than 300% in China. To be specific, food consumption at night in Chongqing, Chengdu, and Changsha accounted for more than 55%. Chongqing hot pots, Sichuan cuisine, skewers enjoy great popularity, and 70% of hot pot orders are placed at night.

An increasing number of trendy and diversified bars, such as live houses, craft beer bars, and pubs, are bringing a more colorful nightlife to people and boosting the night economy.
