Youth representatives from five Central Asian countries experience Chinese intangible cultural heritage in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 12, the “2023 China-Central Asia Human Rights Development Forum” is unveiled in Beijing. From September 9 to 10, a delegation consisted of 20 youths from 5 Central Asian countries participated in the “Central Asian Youth Representatives Visiting Chongqing Human Rights Work” and walked into Rongchang District and Beibei District to watch Sichuan opera, sew Chinese linen, make window-cuts, and feel the unique charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritages.

In Rongchang District, the delegation visited Wanling Ancient Town and felt the beautiful scene of harmonious coexistence between ecology and people; visited the town of Chinese linen, understood the entrepreneurial situation of women in Chinese linen intangible cultural heritage industry, and experienced the production skills of Chinese linen sachet; visited the “Belt and Road” Ceramic Expo Center, experienced Rongchang ceramic intangible cultural heritage, and understood the local residents’ entrepreneurship and employment; and visited Chengdu-Chongqing modern and efficient characteristic agricultural belt “Rongchang-Longchang” Cooperative Demonstration Park in Putuo Village, Anfu Street to understand the stories of individual villagers under the background of rural revitalization.

In Beibei District, the delegation visited Jingangbei Ancient Village. Under the guidance of two Chongqing arts and crafts masters Huang Jilin and Liang Shihui, the youth representatives from five Central Asian countries including Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan experienced the paper-cut intangible cultural heritage. When they spread their own hand-cuts such as butterfly, flower fan and other works, they were as happy as children.
