Goldenrain Trees bloom in autumn, as if red lanterns hanging on them

According to the manager of the Landscaping Management Office of the Municipal Urban Administration Bureau, Chongqing has been focusing on strengthening the allocation of color-leafed plant resources in recent years, such as red maple, poplar and goldenrain trees. By forming different forest landscapes that alternate in four seasons, the city landscaping are now more aesthetic and ornamental. And as the late autumn comes, people in this city can "enjoy the autumn" in a new way. Whether walking in the park or climbing to the mountaintop, as long as people see, they can find the colorful "skyline" wherever they are.
As one of the big stars in autumn, goldenrain tree is also known as "Lantern Tree" and "National Day Tree". It has strong adaptability, prefers light, can slightly resist half shade, and its appearance changes obviously in seasons. It is better to observe its leaves in spring, flowers in summer, and fruits in autumn and winter. The peel is wrapped together like a conical lantern. Its fruits, when mature, are reddish brown or orange, hence known as "lantern fruits". Some old goldenrain trees can grow up to 15 meters high, and their leaves, flowers and fruits are all ornamental. The fruits, when turning red in autumn, are shaped like string of ingots. According to the experts from Chongqing Landscape and Gardening Research Institute, goldenrain tree are not only ornamental, but has strong resistance to dust and sulfur dioxide, and is an "urban air purifier".
