CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At the end of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Concert at Chongqing Grand Theater on the evening of September 17, the conductor Denis Roteyev, with a smile on his face, took several curtain calls with the entire orchestra. This world-renowned orchestra from Tchaikovsky's hometown offered a wonderful night of classic Russian music to the Chongqing audience.

As a representative Russian nationalist composer, Tchaikovsky is regarded as the “Soul of Russian Music”. With his works spread far and wide in China, he is also called “Lao Chai (old Tchaikovsky)” by Chinese fans.

The orchestra performed the Fourth Symphony of Tchaikovsky during the first half. It was the first symphony that has won Tchaikovsky international fame, and the most varied of all his symphonic works.

The Fifth Symphony performed in the second half is known as Tchaikovsky's "Symphony of Fate", presenting the influence of social changes and personal encounters on Tchaikovsky's compositions.

It’s pleasant for the audience to enjoy the two-hour concert presented by the world-renowned Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra from Russia.

“After seeking the opinions of the fans, we chose the Fourth Symphony and the Fifth Symphony of Tchaikovsky.” He Wen, general manager of Chongqing Grand Theater, said that high-standard international cultural exchanges will enhance the cultural influence of Chongqing as an international metropolis and that international performances account for more than 60% of the projects introduced by the Chongqing Grand Theater each year. "The concert tonight shows that the music fans in Chongqing have a high level of musical literacy." (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
