CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In November, the first international standard event of figure skating after Beijing Winter Olympics will open in Chongqing, attracting the eyes of skating fans all over the world.

On September 15th, a press conference was held for the Cup of China ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2023, announcing that the event will be held in Huaxi Culture and Sports Center, Banan, Chongqing from November 10 to 12 this year. This is the third Cup of China held in Chongqing after 2019 and 2020, during which a constellation of world figure skaters will gather here, performing their skills and art, strength and beauty, which is to skating fans around the world a great feast on ice.

"Cup of China" ushered in its second decade

And people are full of anticipation about the event 2023

The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is an international A-level event sponsored by the International Skating Union (ISU), which consists of six races, which are held in the United States, Canada, France, China, Russia and Japan, as well as one final.

The Grand Prix first entered China in 2003 and has been successfully held for 17 times. And 2023 is just the 20th year since its first entry.

One is an international figure skating event with global influence, and the other is an 8D magic mountain city which is known as the "city that loves her tourists the most" in China. What will happen between this year's "Cup of China" and Chongqing?

At the press conference, Shen Xue, winner of China's first double-skating gold medal in Winter Olympics and president of China Figure Skating Association, revealed that "it is the third time cooperating with Chongqing to hold the 'Cup of China', and we have incorporated more Chongqing characteristics this year, and there are also surprises for audiences, hoping they could enjoy watching the event."

The "Cup of China" 2023 is the fourth station of the 2023-2024 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, which has attracted 60 athletes from 10 countries and regions, with four events: men's singles skating, women's singles skating, pairs skating and ice dancing.

According to the entry list of the new season announced by ISU, the lineup of this year's "Cup of China" is really all-star, in which there are many world champions, Olympic medalists, champions of Four Continents, champions of European Championship, etc. Jin Boyang, An Xiangyi, Wang Shiyue, Liu Xinyu and other famous Chinese skaters will also show in the event.

According to the schedule, this "Cup of China" will last for 3 days, of which the 10th and 11th of November is the event day when players compete and their rankings will be determined. Whereas on the 12th of November, a more interesting skating performance, given by players who put aside the previous event and devote themselves into it, showing their changeable styles and personality, is the part skating fans looking forward to the most.

At the press conference earlier, Chinese pair skater Peng Cheng and his new partner Wang Lei, as well as ice dancing partners Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu all appeared. Peng Cheng and Wang Lei said in the interview that they would strive to make a breakthrough in the new season. Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu expressed their expectation to return to Chongqing for the "Cup of China" again, and revealed that they would bring their work that stands out to everyone for skating performance in this season.
