CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The coming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday is about to see an annual shopping and travel rush. The reporter has learned from Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce that the "2023 Chengdu-Chongqing Shopping Festival" will open in Guanyinqiao Commercial Area on the evening of September 27.

According to reports, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in Chongqing from January to August this year has reached 995.91 billion yuan, up 7% from last year, 0.8 percentage points higher than that in the first half of the year, keeping abreast of the national average.

Among them, the growth rate in August was 11.9%, 4.7 percentage points higher than that in July, the highest in a single month since this year. The buoyant consumer market has played an important role in promoting the economic and social development of Chongqing.

"Sichuan and Chongqing are family under the same roof". In 2022, the total economic output of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle hit 7.7 trillion yuan, accounting for 6.5% of the national economy. The GDP of "dual-core" Chongqing and Chengdu ranks 4th and 7th respectively in Chinese cities. And the "2023 Chengdu-Chongqing Shopping Festival" is another practice to promote the in-depth and solid construction of the Circle.

The "1 + 4 + 5 + N" event has prepared a feast for consumers

It is learned that the event is jointly organized by the departments of commerce, cultural tourism, development and reform, foreign affairs and finance of Chongqing and Sichuan. With the theme of "Gathering and having fun in Chengdu and Chongqing", the event is to adopt the mode of "1 + 4 + 5 + N" and muster high-quality resources of the two cities.

The main parts of event are a "launch", four theme activities: "Chengdu-Chongqing Joint Exhibition, Chengdu-Chongqing International Famous Brands Joint Exhibition, Brand Managers’ Visits in Chengdu and Chongqing, and Recommendations for shoppers in Chengdu and Chongqing", and five major theme promotions that covers “cultural tourism, home, shopping, food and finance in Sichuan and Chongqing: sightseeing, furniture updating, fashion purchasing, food enjoying, and convenient life.

Also, the event will follow "one city, one characteristic" and "one industry, one theme" to hold N events with distinguishing features highlights, and more than 100 cities, states, districts and counties in Sichuan and Chongqing will be mobilized to participate deeply, focusing on food, housing, travel, entertainment, online and offline services and other parts. More than 100 shopping centers, more than 1,000 enterprises and over ten thousands of brands will be organized to cooperate, with a total investment of 500 million yuan for promotional funds and more than 300 Chengdu-Chongqing promotions, fully unleashing the potential of Chengdu and Chongqing markets.

At the opening ceremony held on the evening of September 27, more than 60 new shopping scenes in Sichuan and Chongqing and 10 theme tour routes in Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor will be released, and more than 100 major commercial enterprises such as CNPC, Chongqing Department Store, Ant Group and New Century Department Store will be organized to issue a declaration of joint promotion, so as to greatly empower this "Chengdu-Chongqing Shopping Festival" and provide a strong protection for the coordinated development of consumption in both cities.
