CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The main steel structure of the conference and exhibition hall of the Science Hall Project built by PowerChina Roadbridge Group was successfully roofed on the morning of September 26, which marked that the Science Hall Project had completed the procedure that involved the most difficult construction, the most complicated organization, and the most innovative technology investment and the project had made significant progress.

The science hall project uses a three-story 72-meter large-span steel truss structure leading in China and pioneered in Southwest China, with the heaviest single-bay suspended steel truss weighing about 280 tons. This huge building consists of two 12,800-square-meter exhibition halls, a 6,300-square-meter column-free multi-purpose hall (the largest one in Chongqing), and a 5,800-square-meter column-free banquet hall.

Similar to the Bird-Nest stadium, the Science Hall covers a construction area of 247,000 square meters. The total amount of steel used is about 58,000 tons, equivalent to about 8.3 Eiffel Towers. The Science Hall is about 53.8 meters in height. It has a wide variety of functions, including the Science and Technology Exhibition Center, Science Conference Center, Science Innovation Center, and Culture Center. The Science and Technology Exhibition Center is located on the first floor of the northern part of the project, with a construction area of about 58,000 square meters; the Science Conference Center is located on the second and third floors of the northern part of the project, with a construction area of about 89,000 square meters; the Science Conference Center consists of 36 conference rooms, with construction areas ranging from 120 square meters to 6,300 square meters to meet the needs of different meetings and conventions.

In the future, the Science Hall will become the landmark in the Western (Chongqing) Science City and one of the most recognizable landmarks in Chongqing as well as the venue for holding international summits, high-end business conferences, innovation forums, industry forums, and the internationally well-known science, technology and culture forum.
