5G network coverage reaches 100% in the towns of Chongqing
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Over recent years, the development of digital villages in Chongqing has achieved initial success: fiber optic network and 4G signal coverage in all administrative villages has been completed, 5G network coverage has reached 100% in towns, and 252 Internet Towns and 2,890 Internet Villages have been built, according to the 2023 Chongqing Digital Village Coordination Conference and Digital Village Work Promotion Meeting.
The development of digital Chongqing is a crucial step towards building modern Chongqing. It is significant to promote the digitization of urban and rural areas in a coordinated manner and deeply implement the digital village development action. In recent years, the Chongqing Municipal Cyberspace Affairs Office and the Chongqing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee have supported the construction of digital villages in Chongqing. The integration of information technologies such as the Internet of Things, blockchains, and the Beidou navigation system into agricultural production has been accelerated, and digital maps for crop industries such as rape and citrus have been built. The big data platform for "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" has collected over 400 million agriculture-related data resources, and the informatization rate of Chongqing’s agricultural production has reached 26.5%, ranking 13th nationwide. 29 rural e-commerce public service centers and 4,745 village and town service stations have been built, and the rural e-commerce logistics system has been basically established. By 2022, online retail sales of agricultural products citywide will reach 18.59 billion yuan, up 21% year-on-year.
Remarkable progress has been made in the construction of digital villages in Yubei, Banan, Rongchang, Dazu, and Dianjiang. In the final assessment organized by seven departments including the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs at the beginning of this year, Chongqing District ranked sixth in China (the first in western China), Banan District ranked eighth in China (the second in western China), and Dianjiang County, Rongchang District and Dazu District ranked high.
