CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The first symposium on technology and equipment for cultural relics preservation, co-sponsored by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, was held in Chongqing on September 27.

On the same day, “Crafts First: Technology and Equipment for Cultural Relics Preservation” started at the National Cultural Relics Preservation Equipment Industrial Base located at No.17, Danlong Road, Nan'an District, showing 64 pieces/sets of equipment and systems for cultural relics protection jointly developed by nearly 100 cultural and expo institutions, research institutes, universities and high-tech enterprises in China.

"The exhibition is co-sponsored by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. It is China’s first large scenario exhibition themed on the application of technology and equipment for cultural relics protection. The equipment and systems on display have been put into application, and all of them have been localized." Zhou Yang, the deputy director of the China National Silk Museum who curated the exhibition, said that the exhibits showed new technologies, new products, new applications, and new forms of business in the field of cultural relics protection equipment in China over recent years, featuring a large quantity of cool tech for cultural relics protection.

In the multi-sensory digital art space – A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, you will be amazed by the dynamic landscape painting, the beautiful tune, and the delicate fragrance. With holographic projection techniques, virtual reality technology, and light and shadow effects, the art space presents A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains that integrates sounds, light, and shadow. The painting, landscaping, music, and aroma together offer a feast for the senses.

“A stable and clean environment is significant for the preservation of cultural relics, and such an environment requires powerful equipment.” Zhou Yang pointed to the airtight and constantly humid (low-oxygen) warehouse and said, “The precious organic cultural relics of calligraphy and painting are stored in this warehouse. With the assistance of computers, a constant humid, clean, stable, and low-oxygen environment is created to protect the cultural relics.”

The fumigation for cultural relics from the China Three Gorges Museum of Chongqing is displayed near the warehouse. With plant essential oils, the fumigator can protect the cultural relics from airborne fungi.

The exhibition will last until December 26. A reservation can be made through the WeChat Official Account or mini-app of Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
