CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday this year saw a consumption boom in Chongqing, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce. The data from China UMS show that the total consumption in Chongqing during the holiday increased by 15.1% year on year, up 7.9% compared with the same period in 2019.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday, the total consumption in the key central business districts of Chongqing increased by 19.9% year-on-year, up 13% compared with the same period in 2019. The data from Meituan shows that Jiefangbei CBD and Guanyinqiao CBD are among the top five CBDs in China in terms of consumption. The daily average number of tourists in Jiangbei Guanyinqiao CBD exceeded 870,000, and the highest number of tourists reached 930,000; the total number of tourists in Yuzhong Jiefangbei CBD reached 7.93 million, and the daily average number of tourists exceeded 990,000, showing a year-on-year increase of 33%; the sales of key shopping malls in Chongqing central business districts reached 251 million yuan, up 51% year on year.

The eight-day holiday also saw a profusion of good food festivals that drove consumption booms. Statistics show that the turnover of the catering industry in Chongqing increased by 29.2% year-on-year, up 13.4% over the same period in 2019.

The data show that the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays also saw a significant increase in the turnover of the farmhouse industry in Chongqing. The turnover of the farmhouse industry in Tongliang District, Jiangbei District, Xiushan County, and Qianjiang District increased by 31.9%, 29.6%, 28.7%, and 26% year-on-year, respectively.
