Chongqing Mobile’s big data tells you how tourism ramps up

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The ‘2023 National Day Big Data Report’ made by Chongqing Mobile based on the information about Chongqing mobile users and relevant data collected from Volcengine was released on October 7.

The report shows that between September 29 and October 4, the number of people leaving Chongqing reached 2,465,000, up 22% compared with the May Day holiday; on average, one out of every 13 people travel to other cities during the holiday; Chongqing received 2.846 million tourists, which showed an increase of 32% over the May Day holiday.

During the holiday, Chongqing residents traveling across one province/city accounted for 82%. As ‘special forces tourists’, some Chongqing residents crossed a maximum of 13 provinces/cities, with the longest mileage of about 14,000 kilometers.

Don’t waste a second of the holiday. 538,000 tourists arrived in Chongqing within the first 24 hours of the holiday. The total number of tourists in Chongqing ballooned to 2.07 million on the first day of the holiday. At 16:00 on September 29, the number of tourists in scenic areas exceeded 800,000.

Central business districts also saw a sea of tourists. The first day of the holiday witnessed 2.24 million tourists. Jiefangbei CBD saw the highest number of tourists, which reached 209,000.

In addition, the number of tourists traveling in the countryside exceeded 7.1 million during the holiday, up 31% compared with May Day this year.

As Chengdu is twinned with Chongqing, the holiday saw 1.39 million Chongqing residents traveling to Chongqing, which showed an increase of 23% over the May Day holiday; the number of tourists traveling to Chongqing from Sichuan reached 1.06 million, up 26% over May Day, accounting for 37% of the tourists in Chongqing.
