2023 National Tai Chi Open kicks off in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Immortal Shows the Way, White Crane Spreads its Wings... each movement of Tai Chi abounds with spiritual connotations and cultural charms.

The National Tai Chi Open for 2023 (Southwest China) and the press conference on China (Changshou) Tai Chi Open were held in Changshou, Chongqing on October 9. The competition runs from October 10 to October 14 in Changshou Sports Center, involving over 1,000 players from 17 provinces and municipalities in China.

The competition is open to Tai Chi lovers of all ages from all walks of life

The National Tai Chi Open is a national mass sports event. The participants are divided into three groups: Group A (50 years old and above), Group B (18 to 49 years old), and Group C (17 years old and below). Anyone who is a Tai Chi enthusiast is welcome. To promote the national fitness campaign and provide tai chi enthusiasts with an exchange platform, professional athletes registered with the Wushu Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China in 2023 are not allowed to participate in this event. The competition has attracted more than 1,000 contestants from 17 provinces and municipalities in China, including Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Henan, and Chongqing.

The individual events are divided by gender and age; the doubles events are divided by whether equipment is used; team events are divided by boxing type and use of equipment. Those with excellent performances will be qualified to compete with masters from all over the country in the national finals.

At the same time, the players may also apply for rank certificates based on the competition results. Any player who meets the requirements for competition results and qualification may apply to the local rank system office in person and complete the procedures for rank identification in accordance with relevant provisions.
