CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “It’s adorable!” At 9:30 on October 13, a baby giant panda lying on a bamboo chair was carried into the farmhouse and placed in the center of the house by two keepers. Perhaps because it was the first time for the baby to make his public debut, he was a little shy, shaking his head and looking around.

Mang Zai gave birth to a baby boy on July 6, 2023, and Chongqing Zoo celebrated the 100-day birthday of the baby on October 13. It was the first time that the giant panda cub had made his public debut.

With 100 days of careful nurturing, the baby panda has enjoyed good health and reached a weight of 6.26kg. From the date on, Chongqing Zoo will get the baby panda outside the room from time to time according to the weather and the cub’s condition.

It rained on the morning of October 13, but the weather didn’t affect the passion for pandas of the public. One hour before the start of the celebration, a large number of tourists crowded the panda house, waiting for the appearance of the baby panda.

In addition to the 100-day birthday gifts, Chongqing Zoo launched a naming activity for the cub to collect names with beautiful meanings for the baby. From October 13 to October 23, residents can choose a name for the baby panda by scanning the designated QR code on the WeChat Official Account or the Weibo of Chongqing Zoo.
